Background
and Early Education
|
|
I
was born and raised in Prague, Czechoslovakia. My family emigrated to
the USA when I was 15 years old. I had begun studying and performing
dance and theater at an early age, culminating in my acceptance at the
National Ballet Theater of Prague.

Formal
Education and Work Experience
|
|
I
received formal training at the Prague School of Classical Ballet, The
National Ballet Theater of Prague, The Prague School of Performing
Arts, University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Performing Arts,
Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, and the University City Arts
League, Phila., PA. I also hold a BA in philosophy and psychology from
the University of Kansas at Lawrence, and an MA in Counseling and
Guidance from the University of Missouri. I have worked with children,
teens, and adults in a variety of professional settings. I have
directed a variety of school productions.

Performance
|
Over
the years I have presented performances of dance, music, poetry, and
storytelling in major cities and festivals across the USA and Canada,
appeared in a documentary film produced by the National Film Board of
Canada, founded and directed an eclectic performance group in Honolulu,
HI, and continue to perform locally, in San Francisco and elsewhere in
California. I am an active member of the Shasta County Arts Council.
I currently produce, direct, and perform with The Traveling Bohemians,
a group of
artists,with whom I create unique programs, intertwining and often
uniting storytelling, dance, music, song, poetry, art, etc.

Literature
|
I
am a poet, published nationally and internationally, am a member of the
International Society of Poets, and have received several awards. I
have presented my work at, and hosted, many public readings, and
continue to do so. I have also published articles on dance. For many
years, I have been a freelance translator of Czech, Slovak, Russian,
and English.
I presently host The Redding Poets' open mic poetry readings.

Teaching
|
|
I
have recently founded The
Turning Point School of Interpretive Dance.
Interpretive dance translates human feelings, emotions, conditions,
situations, or fantasies into ethnic or modern dance movements.
