New anti-spam measures
We have added a new anti-spam measure, called greylisting, to our incoming mail servers. Greylisting works by delaying mail from addresses the server has never seen before for a few minutes before the server will accept it. This is effective against spam because most spam sources do not try to send the mail again, but legitimate sources will. This technique will not cause you to lose any mail, but some mail may be delayed. You can use the mail control panel to turn greylisting on and off for your account.

Storm Virus Outbreak causes 60-fold increase in spam
A recent virus outbreak has caused a massive increase in spam. See the report on PCWorld. SnowCrest uses ClamAV to scan incoming email, one of the four virus scanners that was able to detect it in PCWorld's test. Also, SnowCrest has recently added image spam scanning, which will further reduce incoming spam. However, some users have reported a significant increase in spam they receive. Please contact our office if you are having trouble.
