This
Project: THEY ALSO RODE TO WARN was released since
I moved up to Redding from Marin county in July of 2000. This album's
information
can be found clicking on: sybil.html.
It was a
most rewarding project as I was emailed by 2 direct descendants of Jack
Jouette and 3 of Dicey Langston. (See Lyrics:lyricsride.html).
This
sequel project is an additional 8 riders I discovered
after THEY ALSO RODE ABOVE...including Emily Geiger, Jane Thomas Black,
Kate Barry, Tempe Wick, Mammy Kate, General Israel Putnam, Lydia
Darragh,
Paul revere's "Other Ride" and adding an exciting song "Under
Liberty Tree" with which I used my new Taylor Baby Liberty Guitar which
has on its back and sides the Tulip-Popular tree's wood from the last
standing
"Liberty Tree" of the American Revolution...a 400 year old tree
from St. John's University in Annapolis, Maryland. The project is in
progress
at this time with a 2004 release date not yet determined. I will keep
you
posted.
This was a most enjoyable
adventure of song. I
wrote
songs from five Islands, including Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Ambergris Caye,
and Niihau. I was actually on 4 of them and very close to Niihau when
on
Kauai where I read about an incident of WWII that had happened there.
One
of the songs is dedicated to Avi Kiriaty, who is an artist from Maui. I
was inspired by one of his paintings of which I had a print..."The
Ukelele Lady In The Painting". As you can see on the CD Cover there
are titles of the songs on the dock in various colors. The folks on the
cover were with me on an adventure on Ambergris Caye, Belize, C.A. I
will
post more info on this as days go by.(See Train Days)

This
song was written especially for my Grandmother who
arrived at Ellis Island from Italy in 1908. I went with my wife Mina
and
Cousin Nancy to Ellis aIsland and we did a search and up came Grandma
and
her Ship, the S.S. Venezia. After taking the informatikon my mother
Frances
and Aunt Edith provided for me about Grandma,...I wrote this haunting
song
and sent it to all my relatives for Christmas 2002. That's Rosa, my
Grandmother
three years later when she married my Grandfather Philip in 1911.
This
project I srated to help my Hometown of Wayne Township,
New Jersey save a 214 year old Dutch Barn. As kids and later in
Highschool
we would always end up at the "Old Barn Milk Bar" after the school
football and basketball games and they had huge cones and simply great
burgers!
The 1790 Dutch timber frame barn was taken down numbered piece by piece
and will be restored to the original barn when funds are raised. I
wrote
"The Old Barn Milk bar" to a 50's style doo-wop song and brought
back to Wayne 25 CD's of the song they could use with fund raisers. I
met
with three members of Wayne Township to present the idea (Carol
d'Allesandro
- Historical Programs Specialist, Robert Monacelli - Township Surveyor,
and Ryan Edge - Supervisor) and they liked the idea very much.
Hopefully
this will give the program a boost to help save a Very Old Barn...and a
mighty sweet piece of History!
This
is the revised project of "Hangin' Loose With
the Mongoose" (Song Potions from 5 Islands!).
