This
Project: THEY ALSO RODE TO WARN was released since
I moved up to Redding from Marin county in July of 2000. This album's
information
can be found clicking on: sybil.html.
It was a
most rewarding project as I was emailed by 2 direct descendants of Jack
Jouette and 3 of Dicey Langston. (See Lyrics:lyricsride.html).
This
sequel project is an additional 8 riders I discovered
after THEY ALSO RODE ABOVE...including Emily Geiger, Jane Thomas Black,
Kate Barry, Tempe Wick, Mammy Kate, General Israel Putnam, Lydia
Darragh,
Paul revere's "Other Ride" and adding an exciting song "Under
Liberty Tree" with which I used my new Taylor Baby Liberty Guitar which
has on its back and sides the Tulip-Popular tree's wood from the last
standing
"Liberty Tree" of the American Revolution...a 400 year old tree
from St. John's University in Annapolis, Maryland. The project is in
progress
at this time with a 2004 release date not yet determined. I will keep
you
posted.
This was a most enjoyable
adventure of song. I
wrote
songs from five Islands, including Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Ambergris Caye,
and Niihau. I was actually on 4 of them and very close to Niihau when
on
Kauai where I read about an incident of WWII that had happened there.
One
of the songs is dedicated to Avi Kiriaty, who is an artist from Maui. I
was inspired by one of his paintings of which I had a print..."The
Ukelele Lady In The Painting". As you can see on the CD Cover there
are titles of the songs on the dock in various colors. The folks on the
cover were with me on an adventure on Ambergris Caye, Belize, C.A. I
will
post more info on this as days go by.

This project I started while still living in Marin County. I
began the
project Interviewing people who were involved in the early train days
of
Marin. There will be a page devoted to this album. I have written the
songs
for this CD but other project are in progress. I will keep you posted
when
I begin recording this one. There are 12 songs including Pt. Reyes
Disaster,
San Geronimo Train, Southbound Train, Mrs. Duncan's Tea Kettle, The
Monte
Rio Fire, The Gravity Car, Austin Creek Tragedy, NorthWestern Railroad
and
When the Quake Shook No. 14 At Pt. Reyes plus others.
This
song was written especially for my Grandmother who
arrived at Ellis Island from Italy in 1908. I went with my wife Mina
and
Cousin Nancy to Ellis aIsland and we did a search and up came Grandma
and
her Ship, the S.S. Venezia. After taking the informatikon my mother
Frances
and Aunt Edith provided for me about Grandma,...I wrote this haunting
song
and sent it to all my relatives for Christmas 2002. That's Rosa, my
Grandmother
three years later when she married my Grandfather Philip in 1911.
This
project I srated to help my Hometown of Wayne Township,
New Jersey save a 214 year old Dutch Barn. As kids and later in
Highschool
we would always end up at the "Old Barn Milk Bar" after the school
football and basketball games and they had huge cones and simply great
burgers!
The 1790 Dutch timber frame barn was taken down numbered piece by piece
and will be restored to the original barn when funds are raised. I
wrote
"The Old Barn Milk bar" to a 50's style doo-wop song and brought
back to Wayne 25 CD's of the song they could use with fund raisers. I
met
with three members of Wayne Township to present the idea (Carol
d'Allesandro
- Historical Programs Specialist, Robert Monacelli - Township Surveyor,
and Ryan Edge - Supervisor) and they liked the idea very much.
Hopefully
this will give the program a boost to help save a Very Old Barn...and a
mighty sweet piece of History!
This
is the revised project of "Hangin' Loose With
the Mongoose" (Song Potions from 5 Islands!).
I added "Creole Girl", who we actually met at the dock of
The Capricorn Resort where 5 of us highschool buddies were "Resort
Sitting" at the time in August of 2000 on Ambergris Caye, Belize. I
also rerecorded, several songs on the album adding tracks and revising
others.
I got a fine Reggae beat going for "One Hundred Dollars Belize"
and "Creole Girl". I also added some new vocals and will be adding
a new song called "Balmy Island Blues" (I'm callin' it right now!)
to the mix. One song "The Ukelele Lady in the Paintint" is based
on a painting by Avi Kiriaty, an artist from the Island of Maui in
Hawaii.
I hope to have the album recorded and available by the end of February.
I am taking a trip to Wayne this December, 2004 and hope to get a
couple
of fine vocals from friends. While there I will be "Home for Christmas"
with family and then back to tealMoon recording Studio in redding,
california
to put the finishing touches to "HANGIN' LOOSE WITH THE MONGOOSE"
My latest project at BACK ROADS PRODUCTIONS (Formerly
TealMoon
Recording) is a Christmas song I wrote for the folks South of the
Mason/Dixon Line! Namely, Lousiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
My intention is to get this song to Merle Haggard who lives a short
distance away in next town Palo Cedro shere I go to church at the Palo
Cedro SDA Church. For those who don't know the SDA stands for Seventh
Day Adventist. The folks there are the best and we have a 600+
membership. Our Pastor Ron Mellor who is very fond of Bluegrass Gospel
music has formed a Bluegrass Gospel Band which includes a Bass, Lead
and Rhythm guitar, Fiddle, Piano, Dobro, three vocalists (usually,
including Ron and our lead and rhythm guitarist) and myself on Pedal
Steel Guitar and 5-String Banjo. But I have gotten away from the
"...rest of the story...". The Christmas song: IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME DOWN
IN DIXIE was most enjoyable to write and compose along with the able
magic of Ray Jensen's Pedal Steel playing along. I hope that Merle will
go for it as it is a worthwhile project wo help those folks get what
they need. I will be getting a streaming version of it on this site so
you can give it a listen. So far about 25 copies are out there in
Kansas, New Mexico, Florida, New Jersey, California, South Carolina,
Arizona, and copies will soon be going to Indiana and Washington. I
wish I knew someone in Louisiana! Bernie
