Private water fly fishing has become very popular in recent years. Some extensive research revealed that Sugar Creek Ranch offers the best opportunity in the west to hook, land and release a rainbow over 15 pounds. Although a lot of huge fish reside in these interesting ponds they aren't the only challenge for anglers. The smaller fish of between 5 and 10 pounds are as fun to fish over as the larger fish, and often go totally ballistic when hooked, ending up well into your backing and/or 3 feet in the air. Sugar Creek Ranch now has 4 working ponds, each with their own setting, habitat and fish population, adding to the possibilities for a variety of haches or a multi-day experience. Many anglers find they have a much greater success rate and generally a better time when accompanied by someone who's familiar with the ranch lay out and feeding habits of these selective fish...and after fishing Sugar Creek since 1996, I know it well.
